A linear walk starting at Llyn Ogwen, ascending the Carneddau Range  and descending into Abergwyngregyn.

Moel Hebog, Moel yr Ogof & Moel Lefn

Walk Start Time: 9:45am

Description: This is one of Eryri’s finest rugged horseshoe routes — steep, rocky, dramatic, and wonderfully quiet once you leave Moel Hebog’s summit.

Starting from the carpark (Pay and Display parking) behind The Goat Hotel, Beddgelert. This walk offers 3 summits to ascend. Starting at a very low altitude this walk offers great climbing, fantastic views and has a mysterious charm. However it involves some serious mountain terrain to reach the heady heights of Summit 1 - Moel Hebog (782 m) with a little light scrambling required to reach the top.

The next leg of the walk heads north following the wall steeply down into Bwlch Meillionen and towards the foot of Moel yr Ogof before a short but steep climb to Summit 2 - Moel yr Ogof (655 m). This peak has strong connections with Owain Glyndwr who is reported as using a cave here as a hiding place.

Summit 3 - Moel Lefn (638 m) is reached by continuing north, descending to a cwm and then ascending once more onto the summit of Moel Lefn.

Expect steep climbs, hands‑on rock, and big views over the Nantlle Ridge, Eryri, and the Glaslyn valley. Once all 3 summits have been traversed we will drop down into Beddgelert Forest via the Princess Quarry to make our way back to the village. It should be noted that once the Forest is entered, the going underfoot is initially extremely rough, with some boggy areas before we reach good tracks. Walk can be expected to take approx. 6 hours.

Dogs welcome. There are a couple of awkward stiles with no alternatives

Aber Falls x 2

Walk Start Time: 10:30am

Both these walks start at the free car park which is on the left, just past the bus stop, as you enter the village of Abergwyngregyn.

Walk A will take us up through the village. Exiting the top of the village it is a pleasant walk alongside the bubbling Afon Rhaeadr fawr. Leaving the tarmac at a narrow stone bridge we walk up, gently climbing, through the National Nature Reserve on a wide shale surfaced path. The vista unfolds as we approach the Falls themselves, one of the most spectacular natural wonders of Wales. Our return is to retrace our steps with lovely views down the valley to the distant sea.

Walk B takes us out of the village on a narrow road to the hamlet of Henffordd. Here we start to climb on tracks, up the side of the hill, to pick up the Pilgrims Way. We follow the Way along the flank of Caer Mynydd with the sea at our backs and the Falls on the horizon at the head of the valley. Attractive woodland (unfortunately too late in the year to hear the cuckoo) and the river away to our left.  We will meet Walk A at the Falls and return together to the village.
